The Manfrotto 055 redefines the 3-section aluminum tripod. Thanks to its size, design, and materials used, the new 055 provides an unprecedented level of sturdiness.
The key feature of the Manfrotto 055 is its 90° central column mechanism, which allows it to be extended vertically as usual, or horizontally, opening up a wide range of framing and shooting possibilities; this feature makes the 055XPRO3 an extremely versatile tripod, suitable for a wide variety of photography and video applications.
The mechanism for setting the column horizontally is housed inside the tripod's top structure for a more compact size and can be extended quickly and easily when needed. The switch from vertical to horizontal column does not require disassembling any parts and can be done even with the camera mounted.
