Calculate the distance with the EC II-D

For best possible results, stand as far from the tree as the tree is tall when taking the measurement. To calculate the distance, place a reference height mark at 2m / 6ft on the tree.

  • Place a mark on the tree at a reference height of 2m / 6ft. Step back from the tree long enough to see the root, reference mark, and top of the tree.
  • First aim at the root and press the button until a signal is heard and the value freezes on the screen.
  • Aim at the reference height mark and press the button until a signal is heard and the value freezes. The calculated distance will be briefly displayed.
  • Aim at the top of the tree (or another height of the tree) and press the button until the signal is heard again and the value freezes. The calculated height value is now displayed on the instrument screen.
Measure the distance manually

For best possible results, stand as far from the tree as the tree is tall when taking the measurement.

  • Measure the distance from the root of the tree to your eye. Use a tape measure or a thread gauge. Step back from the tree until you can visualize the entire tree, both the root and the top.
  • Enter the measured distance value into the EC II-D instrument.
  • Aim at the root and press the button until a signal is heard and the value freezes on the screen.
  • Aim at the top of the tree (or another height of the tree) and press the button until a signal is heard and the value freezes. The calculated height now appears on the instrument screen.

               

SLOPE

  • Aim at the object and press the button.
  • The result is displayed on the screen.
